A SEAT AT THE TABLE
Started in November 2022, A Seat At The Table stands as a beacon of civic empowerment, poised to invigorate Millennials and Generation Z in Philadelphia ahead of the each primary and general election. Rooted in the legacy of Shirley Chisholm, the first Black woman elected to the U.S. Congress, this grassroots initiative is set to unfolded last year on November 5th at Reserve Lounge, Philadelphia, PA. With a mission to amplify the voices of communities historically overlooked in the democratic process, the event channels Chisholm's iconic words: "If they don't give you a seat at the table, bring a folding chair." Addressing the concerning voter turnout among younger demographics, despite their substantial population share, "A Seat At The Table" aims to bridge this gap through dialogue, advocacy, and community-building activities. Led by State Representative Morgan Cephas of the 192nd Legislative District and C2 Consulting, the event promises a dynamic blend of music, advocacy, and engagement, underscoring the importance of active participation in shaping the future of our democracy.
